Founded by Gerry Samide in 1979, Sameng started out as a Water Resources Engineering firm. Throughout the recession of the early 1980s, Gerry gradually developed a solid base of clientele for whom he designed and managed water related projects throughout the province of Alberta.

David Yue became Gerry’s first employee in 1983. Working under Gerry, David gained experience working on river engineering and erosion protection works. In 1989 David left Sameng to pursue his interest in municipal infrastructure. In the ensuing years, Sameng continued to gradually expand, eventually adding resource development and reclamation.

David Yue rejoined Sameng as a partner in 2004 and embarked on fulfilling his vision to build a municipal engineering group at Sameng. Under David’s leadership, a growing team of engineers and technologists have completed significant projects, including water supply and distribution, sanitary collection and stormwater management, in Edmonton and the surrounding municipalities. David became corporate director of Sameng in 2008.

Today Sameng proudly remains an Edmonton-based, employee owned company. The core areas of practice continue to include Water Resources, Municipal Infrastructure, Land Development, and Peat and Gravel Development.
