10 December 2019 - 11:15, by , in Front Page Slider, Municipal Engineering, Comments off

The City of Fort Saskatchewan was looking to rehabilitate deep utilities along alignments within 101 Street in the City’s downtown neighbourhood, along with an alleyway east of Sherridon Drive in the City’s Sherridon neighbourhood. Infrastructure renewal of this neighbourhood was part of an on-going program to upgrade obsolete and deteriorated infrastructure.

  • During concept design, we conducted a site investigation of road alignments and the associated infrastructure to identify potential risks that may not be observed from air photos or other data provided.
  • The project team carried out preliminary and detailed design work as per the most recent Alberta Transportation Design Guidelines and City of Fort Saskatchewan Engineering Servicing Standards, including underground storm, sanitary, and water replacement/rehabilitation, tie-ins to existing infrastructure, and stormwater management services.
  • In addition to the original scope, Sameng confirmed through the review of CCTV, pipe age, and material that the underground pipes (i.e. water, storm and sanitary) are in poor condition and they should all be replaced. We also determined that the existing storm and sanitary pipes are too small to allow for densification, and we also identified the adequate sizing for each pipe based on the land use zoning for the area.
